For website owners
LAPAN-Nav-bot
LAPAN Nav's bot reads the public outlet lists (store locators) on Malaysian chains' own websites, so drivers can find and drive to every one of your outlets.
What it collects
Facts only, the same ones you publish for your customers:
- Each outlet's name, address, postcode, state and position on the map.
- Its phone number, opening hours and type (petrol station, pharmacy, bank branch and so on).
- Nothing else: no photos, descriptions, reviews, prices or personal data, and nothing behind a login.
How it behaves
- Before reading a site, it checks your robots.txt and your terms of use. If either says no to automated access or reuse, it doesn't read your site at all.
- It sends one request at a time, at most one every 5 to 10 seconds.
- It keeps what it reads for a week and never asks for the same page twice in that week. We normally refresh once a month.
- It never logs in, never solves CAPTCHAs and never works around a block. If your site answers "forbidden" or "too many requests", it stops.
- An outlet that disappears from your list isn't deleted straight away: after two monthly refreshes without it, we check whether it has closed.
It always identifies itself with this User-Agent:
LAPAN-Nav-bot (+https://lapan-nav.com/bot; ask@lapan-nav.com)
How to opt out
- Email ask@lapan-nav.com with your website's address. Within 7 days we stop reading it and remove the outlets we took only from your site.
- Or add these two lines to your robots.txt, and the bot won't read any page of your site:
User-agent: LAPAN-Nav-bot
Disallow: /
Rather keep your outlets on LAPAN Nav but correct them? Reply to our email, or send your list on our For businesses page. It's free.
LAPAN Nav never sells this data. It's used only to help drivers find your outlets.
